About the Department

 

 

The Department of Applied Psychology provides a professional BA in Applied Psychology. The department’s graduates are experts in psycho-diagnostics and psychological services and very often form professional teams with school management, teachers, social workers, educators, physicians, human resource managers and psychologists.
The professional BA in Applied Psychology offers three majors: Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology and Clinical Psychology. The department also offers postgraduate programmes in psycho-diagnostics and psycho-pedagogical counseling.

International perspective

  • International Programme for foreign students
    Are you a psychology student who wishes to broaden his/her experience in an international context?
    Our International Programme offers exactly what you are looking for. It is organized by the Department of Applied Psychology of Lessius University College in Antwerp (Belgium), taught in English and organized during the autumn semester of the academic year. The curriculum offers a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge of psychology in an international and intercultural context, which can be of great value for your professional career.

 

  • International Study Conference
    The Department of Applied Psychology co-organizes the yearly International Study Conference, together with university colleges in Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Turkey and Lithuania. Each year, 150 students from those countries gather to discuss the latest psychological developments in Europe.

 

Student Enrollment and Staff

Over 1050 students are currently enrolled at the Department of Applied Psychology. Its academic staff consists of 40 instructors and 15 visiting instructors.

 

Research

Research in the Department of Applied Psychology is centered on educational psychology, industrial psychology and the psychometric assessment of screening instruments.

 

Current projects include ‘Student Participation and Student Representation in Higher Education’ and the adaptation of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test-Third Edition (WPPSI-III) for use among Dutch and Flemish populations.
