Transatlantic Dialogue

25.05-27.5 | Lessius and the University Network of the European Capitals of Culture want to invite you to 'Living Culture in the University', a three-day event that takes place in Luxembourg. During these days students, lecturers and artists from universities in Europe and the United States will engage in a transatlantic dialogue: what does culture in the university mean on both sides of the Atlantic? Conference God's Word in English

24.03 - 25.03 | To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Bible (1611), SIG VERBI, an international research group of CETRA under the auspices of the faculties of Theology and Arts of the K.U.Leuven and the Department of Translation Studies of Lessius Antwerp, is holding the conference God's Word in English. The conference fits into the events to commemorate the Protestant and Catholic Reformations, organized by Refo500, of which the K.U.Leuven is a project partner.

 

Rhetoric in Society III

26.01-28.01 | Rhetoric deals with doxa, the shared opinions and reasons people consider acceptable in a specific situation. It involves decisions taken by participants in public discourse on the basis of common deliberation and free choice, and it focuses on domains in which there can be no absolute truth. In the interdisciplinary conference Rhetoric in Society scholars from all over the world examine how the study of rhetoric can provide an insight into social and political life in our postmodern world.

 

Visit Ph Dr. Bohumil Fiala on Wednesday September 22nd, 2010

On Wednesday September 22nd Ph Dr. Bohumil Fiala will visit the Campus Business Studies of Lessius University College. Dr. Bohumil Fiala is the dean of the Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic and will meet Prof. dr Ysabel Nauwelaerts, departmental Co-ordinator of Business Studies and Karen Verniers, departmental Co-ordiantor of Applied Psychology.

Law and American Narrative: Six Lectures on the Interrelations of American Fiction and the American Trial Process

LASC would like to invite you to six lectures on the interdisciplinary field of law and literature by Prof. Laura H. Korobkin,  Associate Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies at Boston University and Fulbright Visiting Professor at KU Leuven and Lessius.

 

Lessius organizes first UNeECC Lecture

On 17 March Lessius organized the first lecture in a series under the umbrella of the University Network of European Capitals of Culture (UNeECC). Through videoconferencing lecturers and students from Liverpool Hope University and Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu could participate in the debate following Prof. Roger Scruton's provocative lecture on "Wisdom and Cultural Depth versus Technical Expertise"
