MA in construction engineering

The engineer specialised in construction is trained in all aspects of construction: knowledge of strength of materials and stability lead to economical building. By studying different structures and constructions, from roads to bridges, from sewer systems to houses, metal and concrete buildings, combined with practical laboratorial works he is able to design, construct and maintain constructions. Topography for planning and Hydraulic Engineering for maintenance of river and canals complete the fields of study.

The civil engineer can have different tasks in industry: designer, calculator, team leader or consultant, construction supervisor, maintenance manager… Therefore the master study in construction not only focuses on the enhancement of knowledge of the bachelor studies, but focuses on items as law and planning, soils, and the use of advanced techniques such as GIS-systems and Finite Elements.

Two study options (minors) are available in the bachelor construction, which lead to two master studies: construction and land surveying.

MA in electro-mechanical engineering | automotive engineering, energy and automation

The engineering study in electro mechanics or electro technology not only focuses on the enhancement of knowledge of the bachelor studies, but tackles advanced items so as to prepare the engineer for career as designer, production manager or technical expert.

In electro mechanics the minor focuses on the techniques in automotive applications and the minor studies machine design and all sorts of thermo-mechanical energy.

In electro technology the minor focuses on control systems and applications of totally integrated automation and the minor studies electrical energy in all its forms, from basic electricity to applications, production to distribution and industrial installations.

The master study stimulates competences of acquirement of information, of communication, problem solving and research ability. In the master thesis these competences are evaluated.

MA in biochemical engineering

As a result of the multidisciplinary character of the chemical industry the study program is a balanced integration of chemistry in industry, chemical process technology and electromechanics. Therefore can act as polyvalent process engineer in different tasks in industry: design, production, management,…
For the master in industrial sciences, there is a strong accent on practical problem solving and innovation instead of a theoretical approach. By focussing on research based process innovation in the master, our chemical engineer should be able to introduce innovative technologies and solutions in the design and optimalization of industrial chemical production units in different industrial branches (petrochemistry, fine chemistry, food, pharmaceuticals, environmental technology,…).

Based on the common bachelor of industrial sciences: chemistry, together with the knowledge on biosciences, act as a traditional engineer in industrial biological processes. Both the production of biomolecules, the use of micro-organisms in industrial processes as the control of micro-organisms are well studied.

As a result of the typical character of the biotechnology a strong accent on laboratory skills, research methods and interpretation of experimental data is present in the study program. Genetic engineering, analytical biochemistry and toxicology can be mentioned as typical examples.

The master studies stimulates competences of acquirement of information, of communication, problem solving and research ability. In the master thesis, where the student actively participates in industrial and technological research, these competences are evaluated.

MA in engineering in electronics-ICT

The master study in electronics-ICT not only focuses on the enhancement of knowledge of the bachelor studies, but tackles as well advanced items in order to prepare the academic engineer for a career as designer or technical/scientific expert.

Enhancement of knowledge and competences in the fields of analogue and digital electronics, telecommunications, signal processing and information technology are the cornerstones of the programme.

In a broader context image processing, industrial networks, product certification and management of information systems is introduced. This is achieved through research based lectures and lab-sessions.
