Taste the Language project a success: it's official!

The final report of the Taste The Language project, a Lingua 1 project which ran between 2005 and 2007 and which was coordinated by Lessius University College, was just approved by the European Commission.  The project was awarded a score of 4 out of 5, which is equivalent to 80%. This is a very good result, and the project management at Lessius received congratulations from Brian Holmes, the Head of the ‘Lifelong Learning’ Unit of the European Commission.

The Taste The Language project aimed to promote language learning by using ‘Food and Language’ Taster Sessions, promoting European languages and food at various locations, such as restaurants, cafés, fairs, shops, … During the taster sessions, the participants could learn a little of the language, whilst sampling the food of the region where the language is spoken.

One of the outputs of the project is an interactive Taster website (www.tastethelanguage.eu), which contains reports of the taster sessions, cultural information, vocabulary lists and sound files, and also a digital copy of the project handbook, the Taste Recipe. This handbook contains practical tips for people who wish to set up their own taster session and can be downloaded from the website for free.
