International Study Conference

Content

 

The International Study conference is a conference for students of seven university colleges in Holland, Belgium, the UK, Turkey and Lithuania. During their stay the students attend a program of various workshops and cultural activities.

 

The conference lasts 5 days. The students can sleep and eat at the conference venue. For this reason, participation for the ICS costs +/- 130 euro. Transportation to the conference venue, meals and sleeping places are included in this price.

  • Explanation

    The study conference aims to broaden the experiences of students, firstly by giving them experience of different European cultures, and secondly, by increasing their knowledge about the way psychology is carried out in different European contexts.
    The student shares the responsibility of making this study conference a truly international experience, by taking advantage of the possibility to interact with psychology students from other countries.
    The ISC aims at the following competencies concerning attitude: openness, culture transcending attitude, and flexibility.

Prerequisites

    None.

 

  • Required competencies

    Knowledge of basic fields of psychology is required. As all the communication is in English, the students must know the basics of the English language.

  • Description

 

  1. Continuous assessment
    The student attends the workshops during the ISC. After each workshop he or she will be asked to fill in an evaluation form. This form counts as a proof of attendance.

 

  1. Task evaluation
    The student writes a scientific paper about the subject of one of the workshops.
    This means that the students must consult various scientific sources and use these for an elaboration on the subject. In this paper the student shows to be capable of critically reading and using scientific literature. Also the student proves to be able to consult, compare and integrate various sources and to report in a scientific manner.
