Research Areas

The members of the Financial Management Research Group are active in a wide array of research topics in both corporate and investment finance. An important part of the group’s work is situated in the key research areas of financial risk management and strategic financial management.

 

In the key research area Financial Risk Management, we examine the impact of corporate decisions, public policy and regulation upon the financial stability of corporations and financial institutions. Research projects within this area include the measuring and modeling of institutional investors' risk and analyzing the importance of business law for the financial health of corporations.

 

The consequences of major managerial and shareholders’ decisions for corporate financial and market performance are studied in the key research area Strategic Financial Management. Examples of research topics in this area are the impact of competition on corporate finance, the link between financial decision making and merger & acquisition activity, financial markets’ response to the announcement of non-financial corporate decisions, etc.
